Friday morning ...at last !

I am on bag duty this morning in Ocean Terminal. Another great nights sleep from all last night, partly induced by the exertions of the Pirate golf and also from the late night footie match in the field in front of the hotel.
The kids and staff are off shopping and the money situation for most seemed OK when Miss Hull opened the bank this morning for the last time. McDonalds is ordered for Ayr this afternoon and then we will burn it off in the park before heading for the boat. Robert, Andrew and Taylor won the hotels prize for the tidiest boys room whilst Grace and Sarah won the tidiest girls room. I was gutted to not to win as I thought mine was OK

Will keep you posted later on arrival and departure times etc
Now back to the frappucinno!

Day 3 update

Well that was an absolutely cracking day. We woke up with the sun splitting the trees and headed off early to Blair Drummond Safari Park. First stop was a tour of the animals but the heat had affected them in the same way as it was affecting us. Some were grumpy ( one of the rhinos got too close for comfort ) some were sleepy ( the lions look stuffed ) and some lay in their beds and didn't move much the whole time....

We visited all parts of the park including the paddle boats, the boat out to chimpanzee island and the zip line across the lake.

The highlight of the day however was the faces pulled whilst riding the slippery dip....

And then there is this one....

Tonight we went golfing. The four group winners are getting their McDonalds upgraded to adults tomorrow. They are Luke, Beth, Joshua and Sarah !

Apologies for the blog tonight....I have lost all dexterity in my fingers I am that tired 💤💤💤💤

Round up of day 2

After dinner tonight we headed off to bowling. All the kids had great fun with many matches going right to the final bowl. The teachers match however started and ended in controversy. Mrs Reid pulled out citing injury which left the rest to battle it out. However at crunch times in the match Mrs Reid then decided to bowl other people's balls ( in to the gutter ) and distort the scores. Once again Miss Ellison was a worthy winner and showed good grace in victory. Myself and Miss Hull scurried off to lick our wounds.....

Tonight we hit the beach again as we got dropped off at one end of Portobello and walked the whole boardwalk back to the hotel.

Walking was pretty much a theme of today. We walked the bridge, we walked the royal mile and we walked again tonight. In total my phone shows we walked over 12km.

Funny, they all fell asleep within 10mins of going to bed tonight. There has to be some kind of link eh?? 😉
Over and out ...AS

Why is this bridge shaking!!!

Am posting this whilst sitting outside the parliament buildings in 25 degree sunshine. This morning we were at Deep Sea world where we learnt more information about sharks than we will ever need.

We then had a lovely Al fresco lunch before heading off with backpacks on to walk the Forth Bridge. The most popular questions included....how far have we got to go....are we there yet...have many people jumped off the bridge and why is Mrs Reid on her hands and knees and looking very pale 😝😝😝 ( apparently she is definitely NOT scared of heights lol )

We spent this afternoon getting a tour of Edinburgh and have just walked from the castle down the royal mile to the palace. I took my girls and they did me proud! They were all over at a street stall selling jewellery and I was resting on a bench near by. I went over when I heard a bit of a commotion only to find that they had bartered the poor man down from £6 to £3 for their key rings!!! Brilliant....
Anyway back home to the hotel for a quick shower before bowling tonight

Day 2 has started ...already

When I was in my early 20's I am not sure I ever envisaged sitting in a hotel corridor at 6.30am in our pyjamas drinking coffee with Bernie Reid....but such are the harsh realities of life in the education sector!
The night passed without incident with them all sleeping by 12.30pm. We have had a few little meerkats ( fully dressed ) poking their heads out this morning ready to go from 6.30 but we are learning the art of rest and relaxation very quickly here. It is glorious so onwards and upwards.
